FIRST FARM STORES BREAKS GROUND ON LONG ISLAND
America’s oldest drive-thru store coming to Village of the Branch
Village of the Branch – Smithtown, NY (Feb. 5, 2020) – The oldest drive-thru convenient store in the country is coming to Long Island. Farm Stores, a grocery/bakery/cafe franchise chain that has become a reliable and beloved institution across south Florida for more than 60 years, broke ground today in the Village of the Branch in Smithtown.
Farm Stores carries costumers’ favorite grocery and household brands in addition to products not found anywhere else, and it’s all brought to the car: the equivalent of a drive-thru supermarket express lane. From milk and eggs to fresh produce, to ready-to-eat hot and cold snacks to beverages including freshly-brewed coffee, Farm Stores will be open early to serve morning commuters and late for the last stop when heading home. Furthermore, a mobile app allows customers to place an order in advance for even greater convenience.
“Long Islanders are familiar with the drive-thru convenient store concept and for some, it’s a nostalgic experience going back to their youth in mom’s car,” said Carmelo Barone and Christina Picarella, the Long Island North representatives for Farm Stores. “We’re excited to introduce this unique shopping experience and a new level of convenience to Long Island.”
The 400-SF double drive-thru store is expected to open by summer. Barone and Picarella – part of the WINS Group, LLC –will select a franchisee to own and operate the store.
